CAKE: What are its Supported Platforms?

5 min read

CAKE is a new open-source platform that helps you create, share and collaborate on applications. CAKE was designed to be modular so that it can be used with any language or framework. It also has an integrated web server for easy development and testing of your application.

CAKE What are its Supported Platforms

CAKE Background Information

CAKE was created by a team of developers who were frustrated with the lack of options when it came to application development frameworks. They wanted a platform that would be easy to use and would work with any language or framework.

CAKE is based on the Ruby on Rails web development framework, so if you’re familiar with RoR, then you’ll be able to start using CAKE right away.

Benefits of Using CAKE

  • It’s easy to use. If you’re familiar with Ruby on Rails, then you’ll be able to start using CAKE right away and will help you know the best coins to stake.
  • It’s modular so that it can be used with any language or framework.
  • It has an integrated web server for easy development and testing of your application.
  • It’s open-source, so it’s free to download and use.

CAKE is currently available for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows platforms. More platforms will be added in the future. You can download CAKE from the CAKE website: [link]. Documentation and support are also available on the website. Have fun coding 🙂

CAKE is a new-source platform that helps you create and on shared applications. CAKE was to be used with any language framework; it also integrates your application development and testing.

CAKE’s creation by an of developers, who were with the lack when it came to options frameworks, gave impetus towards making one that could work for all sorts of applications as well as being easy enough so anyone could use it without prior experience in coding.

Taking cues from Ruby on Rails (the web platform) adds to the familiarity you might have if considering using CAKE and is currently available only on Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows platforms but will soon branch out onto other systems.

You can download CAKE from their website [here], which would give access to the documentation and support present on it.

Supported Platforms for CAKE

  1. a) PPC, i386
  2. b) Intel-based Macs running Leopard or later.
  3. c) PowerPC GX and IBM OpenPower supported on Linux only.
  4. d) ARM is not currently supported but is in progress by the core team.
  5. e) No official releases for “Panther” (Mac OS X version is 0. x, which means development/unstable).

f ) Only tested on 64-bit versions of Ubuntu, Fedora 11 are known to work with minor issues due to lack of GCC support for atomic operations required.

  1. g) Hardware requirements: Any computer that can run any other platform distribution should be able to run CAKE without problems – it has been lightly tested on VirtualBox.
  2. h) Not supported: Solaris, BSDs.
  3. i) The Mac OS X version is 0. x, which means development/unstable.
  4. j) CAKE’s major dependency – Ruby on Rails needs to be installed for this platform; otherwise, no problems are expected.
  5. k) Hardware requirements: Intel-based Mac running Leopard or later.; PowerPC GX and IBM OpenPower supported on Linux only; No official releases for “Panther” (Mac OS X version is 0.x, which means development/unstable).
  6. l) Only tested on 64-bit versions of Ubuntu & Fedora 11 are known to work with minor issues due to lack of GCC support for atomic operations required

Ways in Which CAKE has Helped in Technological Development

  • Easier to develop – More platform friendly.
  • Can have multiple frameworks with ease.
  • More organized and manageable.

It makes development faster due to the integrated web server included in the package itself and doesn’t need extra installations like Apache or other servers, which slows down coding time.

– Helps remove bugs more efficiently as if there are any crashes, and they will be right at your fingertips for you to fix them quickly:) – You can develop applications for all sorts of environments now without worrying about compatibility issues between systems (though it does use Ruby).

– Can use different frameworks without the need to do separate projects.- Makes coding more accessible and faster.

It is more platform-friendly, making it easy for others to develop your applications. – You can have multiple frameworks with ease.

To conclude, CAKE is a great platform that makes development much easier and faster with its included web server and easy-to-use interface. It helps remove compatibility issues between systems and allows developers to use multiple frameworks without doing separate projects, making coding much more efficient. Though it is still in development, CAKE is worth trying out.
