With the lockdown being way too longer than people ever expected it to be, and so many OTT platforms bombarding our phones with unlimited movies, TV Shows, and other forms of content, many people are wanting to experience it on big screens with a home theatre setup. This explains why they are so common these days.

But none of us can deny the fact that despite the utility of home theaters these days, they are quite an investment. Big investments require you to put in some research, effort, and most importantly time.

You want to consider all the factors like speaker quality, screen size, brands, technology, efficiency, size, lighting, and everything else before you finally make the purchase.

You might understand that once you make a decision of buying a home theater, there is a lot on your plate already, and it is actually very easy for something to slip out of your mind and regret later.

7 Things to Keep in Mind While Setting Up a Home Theatre

I don’t want that for you, and so, in this think-piece, I’ve compiled all that you need to remember while setting up a full-fledged home theater.

1. Good quality video player and cables

Your DVD Player and HDMI Cables play a crucial role in a home theater. So, make sure that the ones that you have, provide high-quality signals and the DVD player and Audio-video cables are compatible with each other.

2. The Screen

The most important part of your entire home theater is the screen and you will be spoilt for choices with different features on each. When it comes to aesthetics and sizes, it primarily depends upon the budget and individual choices of the person buying it.

Most people think that the bigger the screen, the better. But in reality, that’s not the case. The fact that you are opting for a home theater itself means you are going to have a big screen. You must also consider the room size so that it doesn’t make your room look clumsy.

3. The seating

While deciding about the seating arrangement, most people make the mistake of sitting too close to the screen. So close that sometimes they cannot even watch the entire screen, at once.

Ideally, it is best to have your seating arrangement fixed at around 3 times the size of the screen. This is why we said to consider the room size while deciding the screen size. All the factors are interlinked for your best experience.

4. The Speakers

After the screen, the next most important thing is the speakers. Well, when it comes to your home theater, how you surround yourself with sound, is what will make your experience more lively.

Factors like how many speakers are you planning to install, each at what distance, the room size, your budget comes into play. In my experience, if you invest in one center speaker directly above or below the screen, and surround speakers at each corner of the room – it will give you an experience of your own personal theater.

5. Lighting

Most people think that for the best experience, they must watch TV shows in a completely dark setting. Well, that’s not entirely true. In fact, installing a few lights can further enhance your experience.

A completely dark room only stresses the eye. Little lighting not only adjusts with the brightness but also adds to your overall experience.

6. Proper installation

For the best installation, you must talk to your sellers. In most cases, they provide free installation or if you need something extra, they might charge you minimally.

Make sure the sellers are experts in home theatre installation like Addicted to Audio and have full knowledge of all the sound and visual elements.

7. The room

This is one of the most crucial choices as a lot of your experience will depend on your choice of room. A common idea is to have your home theater installed in the hall because it is probably the biggest room. But it might not be your only choice.

If you want something secluded with less sound, then clearly the hall isn’t the right choice. Your bedroom can be a popular choice or any other room that is slightly secluded from the other parts of the home, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy your favorite home theater.

Remember, your home theater can be quite an investment, so be wise, take your time, and be completely sure before making the purchase.
